It has been quite a while since my last post, and I have been too busy to even think about posting. Since I have about five spare minutes, let me catch you up on what's been going on.
Spring Break went much too quick and was very relaxing. Jon and I were in Texas visiting his relatives. Giddings is all of five stop lights, but the small town atmosphere was refreshing. We also got into Houston one of the days we were there.
We came back on Thursday and three hours later had found a house to purchase! We signed papers for contract on Friday, negotiated on Saturday, and purchased on Sunday. Note: When you purchase a house, you have TWO BILLION things to do immediately following.
1. Research and find a person to do a home inspection (which you pay for). You have to call several people because prices vary from $200-400 for the same thing.
2. Find a person to do a termite inspection (you pay for).
3. Research morgage rates. You don't want to pay any closing costs, so you really have to see what's best for you.
4. Find home insurance. This rate can also vary. One quote was over 1100 a year, another closer to 500.
Anyway, it is very exciting! Jon and I knew right when we walked in we loved the house. It is three bedrooms plus a loft, has 2.5 bathrooms, an above ground spa outside, and a nice backyard. Woohoo!
As you might have imagined, we have been extensively looking for engagement rings the last few weeks as well. It is very exciting and definitely fun to be doing that with your sweetheart. The only problem is every ring is so pretty in it's own right, but it really comes down to what tastes you have as to what you will like the best.
Also, we have been shopping cars for Jon. The front runner is the Scion, by Toyota.
That's my extensive update. You might not get one for awhile, so enjoy it while it lasts!
