As some of you might recall in a previous post, as Jon and I were traveling across the country our UHaul broke down in the ever so lovely state of Oklahoma. For our troubles we were given an inadequate sum of $150.00. Convinced this did not accurately compensate us, we drafted a letter to UHaul in the hopes of receiving an additional 100 or so bucks for the expenses accumulated because of the extra day on the road.
Then Jon received a letter.
That's right. Good ol' Uhaul came through and actually has agreed to reimburse Jon a full 20% of the total rental cost. This is such a blessing and really great news. So, I no longer can bash UHaul to all of you, but I will simply tell you if you ever are in need of a self-moving service make sure you check the maintenance records before leaving the store.

Wednesday blahs
Today is Wednesday, only Wednesday, and I even had Monday off (how long ago that seems!). I can't believe I am only 4 classes into my masters degree...it feels like my Wednesdays have been taken from me for much longer that that (and two of those classes were transfer units so I really have only taken one semester of classes). All I want to do today is go home, kick off my shoes, have an awesome dinner (instead of a cold sandwich), and hang out with the best boyfriend ever while I watch ALIAS. No spoilers, please. I am taping it tonight. ;)
Can't wait until Friday....

Praise for KEG
Although it may seem from the title of my post that I'm in a narcissistic mood, in actuality I am writing to tell you about a fantastic restaurant called The KEG Steakhouse(www.kegsteakhouse.com). I have wanted to go to this restaurant for a few months because of the obvious resemblance to my name, but I now have a far greater reason for going there...they have some of the BEST FOOD EVER!
I know, I know, you probably think I'm being biased because of the silly name connotation again, but it really is good food. The first time I went in September, Jon and I were blown away. Although it can be pricy, we get the "KEG SIZE" prime rib, which is a full 16oz, split it, and walk away paying less than thirty bucks for a nice dinner and drinks. How can you argue with that?
Yesterday was my most recent experience at the dining establishment. Seeing as many people have already discovered the virtues of this place, we were told there as a 40 minute wait. However, 40 minutes turned into an hour. Nevertheless, the meal made up for any lost time. Halfway through our meal the manager came up and apologized for the long wait and offered us a *free* dessert for our troubles. A FREE DESSERT! Come on! So, we feasted on creme broulee at the end of the evening.
If you haven't tried KEG yet I would encourage you to jump on their website and find the nearest location pronto. Don't thank me for the tip, though. You can just take me out to dinner the next time you go back for your gratitude. ;)
P.S. I went swimming in January yesterday! (Yes, the pool was heated, but I WENT SWIMMING IN JANUARY). What a rebel.

Alias and Race excitement
I know you've all been waiting to hear how the second episode of ALIAS was on Wednesday night. To my dismay, I got home from grad school and found I didn't have enough tape and the VCR wasn't recording it after all. Determined to quit grad school in order to watch my favorite show, Jon thought it would be in my best interest to see if he could find if anyone uploaded it to the Internet. Then he, in turn, could transfer the data from his computer screen to his TV. Low and behold, when I showed up at his apartment on Thursday ALIAS was on this TV screen, waiting to be watched! The 2nd episode was much better but leaves the true fan with some questions (why would Nadia and Dixon forgive Sloane for everything he did to them? hasn't the new organization been just a bit too easily created?).
In other news, The Amazing Race continues to be a great thrill ride on Tuesday nights. So far this season I have been to both the Oslo ski jump and Budapest, Hungary. At this rate they will have been to almost every place I have been to which will leave me with NO advantage if I ever get on the program. I am holding out they won't visit Cracow, Poland or Estonia any time soon. Then again they did go to Tunis, Africa, so all might truly be lost.
Still holding out to see Phantom and Life Aquatic, as well as finish that scathing letter to UHaul. All in due time.
Have a great weekend!

Alias premiere
As many of you know, I am a HUGE Alias fan. Hooked since the middle of season one, I have been waiting anxiously for the new season to start. Being the addict that I am and having to wait until January wasn't easy, but last night I had a prime spot in front of the TV to take in one of my favorite shows (next to Amazing Race).
This fan, however, was a little disappointed with the new season. It seems like we have reverted back to season one in so many ways (ie-Syd hating her father, working with Dixon again, Sloane in charge, a "secret" agency). Been there, down that. It was so good the first time I doubt the writers can improve on what has already been done. Here's hoping the new season improves from here on out. I want to be jumping up and down in front of the TV and closing my eyes because the anticipation is too great once again. I girl can hope right....

"Moving" towards a New Year
Break is over (so quickly!) and the normal routine has started again. I started back to work yesterday and Jon started his new job working for the state of Arizona.
We left last Monday and traveled to DC to start moving his stuff from his storage unit to a 14' UHaul he had rented. Can you picture me moving anything of substance at all? Since I am such a weakling I could barely help him move anything at all. I begged, on more than one ocassion, for a random guy to help Jon move his heaviest item. Now Jon's back is really bothering him. Sad day!
As we were making our treck across the country I found several places I would NOT want to live: Illinois is boring, flat, and kinda ugly, as well as the upper part of Texas we drove through. Oklahoma should be completely turned into lava, but more on why later! The coolest place was St. Louis and we both thought the arch was pretty phenominal looking. We were blessed with perfect weather and I was lucky to have great company during the entire trip!
However, as we were halfway through our trip our UHaul truck started to have problems around Tulsa, OK. To make a long story short our transmission was completely shot and we had to transfer all of our belongings from truck A to truck B by ourselves. UHaul's compensation policy is awful and unworthy of all of our troubles (time lost on the road and additional expenses). We are planning on drafting a letter to the company. Only time will tell if they make these two customers satisfied.
I hope that we can get Jon settled in his new apartment by this weekend and take in a movie or two we both want to see: Phantom (me) Life Aquatic (him) and finish our UHaul letter.
I'd love to hear from all of you!
